Dan Brown has written a novel in the suspense/thriller mode, pitting an imaginary, ancient, secret society, the Priory of Sion, against a real, rich, and relatively obscure Catholic sect, Opus Dei.
Plantard, a Vichy French Fascist, is the real originator of the Priory of Sion. Dan Brown apparently believes Mr. Plantard's tale, that it actually dates back to 1099CE. Plantard is a psychotic, anti-semitic French loon who blamed World War II on the Jews. Josemaria Escriva, founder of Opus Dei, was a Spanish Fascist who supported the murderous Franco regime.
Fascist vs Fascist? The Church studiously avoids discussion of this nature, while consistently decrying the books "relevatory" passages. Franco was worse to Spain than Saddam was to al-Iraq, the founder of Opus Dei was in with him. Fuck every Christian who just wastes their time trying to prove that Jesus never had any children, or that the gnostic gospels are frauds. Why can't they simply point to worse-than-Saddam fascists on both sides?
